Ms HANMER was shot dead during an armed robbery of her hardware shop in suburban Melbournein 1982.
BRAZEL today pleaded guilty to the murder.
He said his decision to make written submissions was sparked by concerns that any commentshe made in court would be open to misquoting by the media and could distress Mrs HANMER'Sfamily.
