Killer pleads guilty, saying he's concerned for victim's family

Convicted killer GREGORY JOHN BRAZEL has told a judge he's anxious not to distressthe family of a woman he's admitted was his third victim.

Forty-eight-year-old BRAZEL told Victorian Supreme Court Judge PHILIP CUMMINS he'llmake written submissions about his confession to the murder of 51-year-old MILDRED TERESAHANMER.

Ms HANMER was shot dead during an armed robbery of her hardware shop in suburban Melbournein 1982.

BRAZEL today pleaded guilty to the murder.

He said his decision to make written submissions was sparked by concerns that any commentshe made in court would be open to misquoting by the media and could distress Mrs HANMER'Sfamily.

BRAZEL's serving a 30-year term for the 1990 murders of two prostitutes.

Today's hearing before was adjourned until February 27.
