Fed: Internet Uni defends standards

By Debra Way

CANBERRA, Jan 2 AAP - An Internet-based university under review by the federal government
has defended the rigour of its admission standards.

The government ordered a review last April into whether the controversial Greenwich
University, based on Norfolk Island, met the accreditation standards set for other Australian
universities.

The review came after Labor Senator Kim Carr attacked the university's credentials
and called on the federal government to use its reserve powers under the Norfolk Island
Act to revoke its permit.
